At the internet Marketing Workshop I attended I learned that more pages on a website are better in terms of SEO (search engine optimization - aren't I hip to new technology!)
I decided we shouldn't just delete our past performances from the website, since they provide important evidence of the diversity of our growing list of satisfied "customers"who are repeatedly booking us, so I added a new page called Past Performances.

We're rehearsing individually with our backing tracks in preparation for our show Sunday afternoon at Alma Via in San Rafael. Although fundamentally the same as last weeks show at Vintage Sonoma, we've rearranged our set list a bit.
Ricki was able to use her Audacity program to add an extra measure of introduction to our backing track for Steam Heat, so that we have a bit more time to get into our choreography. She was also able to use the Amazing Slow Downer to alter the tempos on a couple of our tracks based on how we felt about them after listening to a recording of our earlier performance. These are amazing tools! I came home from the Internet Marketing Seminar inspired to improve our Lovin' Harmony Trio Facebook Page, so I spent some time adding several photo albums from past performances. The page looks a lot richer now.
I learned that for purposes of moving up in search engine priority we need to ask our Facebook friends to "Like" our page. I also need to add a Facebook "Like" button to our webpage. This evening Mardi went to an internet marketing seminar in SF called "Mastering the Social Media Marketing Mix". Several other singers attended, including Wesla Whitfield!
Mardi learned some things that she was mediately able to implement, as well as hearing about possibilities for further down the road. The event was taught by Jon Leland of ComBridges, and produced by our friend and mentor, Linda Kosut, who also produced the CD Recording Practicum and CD release show that Judy and Mardi participated in last fall. Just heard back from the booker for the Marin Senior Information Fair that we were so well received last fall that they to hire us for the Mainstage in October !
We had a blast last night at The Sleeping Lady in Fairfax.sitting in with Namely Us (thanks to outr mentor/friend Connie Ducey) We sang two tunes in the second set, "Mood Indigo" and "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy"and came back in the third set to do "Near You".
The owner of the club made a point of listening to us, so now we'll follow up to see whether he'll offer us a gig in a month or two. We also networked there with a gal from SF who produces a variety of shows every month in several different venues. One of our friends in the audience took some great new photos of us in action which we will post on our website. We got together this afternoon to do some strategizing about marketing, de-brief about yesterday's performance, and to polish up a few spots we thought could use some improvement before we sit in on Sunday at the Sleeping Lady in Fairfax during our friend and mentor Connie Ducey's monthly show there with her band Namely Us.
Afterward we went to our regular open mic with the Jim Whiteside Trio at the Mayflower Inn in San Rafael where we each got to sing lots of solo numbers with the band. It's a great place to try out new material, and we've developed quite a supportive community of singers who attend regularly. On very short notice we were hired to return to Vintage Sonoma to present an hour long show during their special event associated with the group "Spirit of 45".
Since none of our usual accompanist were available on the spur of the moment, we used our top-notch backing tracks created specially for us by the talented pianist, Ross Gualco. Everything worked smoothly and the audience had a great time. Some folks even got up to dance, while others sang along. A photographer from the local newspaper took our picture as we helped unveil a life-sized full color statue of the famous image of a returning GI kissing an Army nurse. Since this is just the start of a nationwide roll-out by this group of veterans, we're hopeful we will be offered more opportunities to sing in other locations. Found some sexy, sparkly long black dresses and cute miniature hats with veils to give us an alternative glam outfit for evening gigs.
