This will be the debut public performance of our newest member, Christine Schroder.
We were flattered to be invited by Kathy Holly to join the line-up of over 30 talented Bay Area performers for a benefit show which she and Allan Richards are producing at Villa D'Este Restaurant in San Francisco on Sunday January 13, 2013 to raise money for folks on Staten Island who are still suffering the effects of Superstorm Sandy.
This will be the debut public performance of our newest member, Christine Schroder.

In order to give ourselves more flexibility, and allow us to accept more bookings, we have decided to add an additional member to the group! We are pl;eased to announce the addition of Chris Schroder, who will initially be learning Ricki's parts, in order to be able to step in whenever Ricki is unavailable.
Eventually Chris will learn all three of the trio parts so that the show can go on whenever any one of us is unable to perform. Each of the three original members is now in the process of recording our parts on CD and sharing them with each other, so that we can each be available to substitute for another member when necessary. We may even decide to switch parts from time to time just for FUN! Another fun successful show yesterday in celebration of USO Day. We were supported by a top notch backing trio: Si Perkoff on piano, Andy Dudnick on bass ,and Eliot Bien on clarinet and jazz flute.
We were all in the groove and were very well received. The activity director immediately wanted to book us for several more shows next year. Our newest member of Lovin'Harmony, Chris Schroeder, came along to video the show, so we'll soon have some new material to use for promotion. She's rehearsing regularly with us now, already has her costumes, and is getting up to speed on our songs and choreography,, so that she can step in whenever Ricki is unavailable. Eventually, she may learn each of our parts so that she could fill in for any one of us. We had a great time tonight singing with our talented backing band: Si Perkoff on piano, Ryan Lukas on bass, and Doug Morton on trumpet. We gave the guys plenty of room to solo and it all came off remarkably smoothly, considering we'd never played together before!. As a bonus we got some useable video of our performance which we can post on the website soon. The gal who hired us is talking about bringing us back for a New Year's Eve afternoon show. We were well received by the large audience at Merrill Gardens in Vallejo last Friday afternoon. At this facility, the crowd sat at round tables and enjoyed cocktails and conversation while we sang, so it felt more like singing in a bar, than like our usual concert set-up.
They all seemed to have such a good time, their activity director immediately proposed booking us for every other month through next year! Since we are interested in branching out into other types of venues, like wineries and private parties, we want to be sure to leave enough open space in our schedule, so we are going to accept five bookings. Good thing we are working on adding new material to our repertoire! Next up is "Sunnyside of the Street" in the jazzy Manhattan Transfer version, followed by "In the Mood" Lovin' Harmony was very well received last night at The Redwoods in Mill Valley. We wore our glamorous sparkly evening dresses this time. Our wonderful accompanist Si Perkoff was in fine form. Many audience members came up to us after the show and asked us to make a return engagement soon.
Judy is doing a great marketing job. She's booking a couple of shows a week for us through much of the Fall, and we even have three shows lined up already for 2013.
It feels great! We're working on three new trio tunes to add to our repertoire. Since we are now getting repeat bookings by popular demand, we need to keep the show fresh. With some creative adaptation ( and the help of some symptom suppressing cough syrup) we managed to present our show at the Marin JCC yesterday as a duo. Ricki was still too under the weather to perform.
In spite of that, we were so well received that we were re-boked on the spot for THREE future shows, with the promise that we will be the first group she calls to fill in if anyone else has to cancel. We call that an unqualified success! A new facility for us, Merrill Gardens in Sonoma, has just booked us for a pair of hour long shows, one in September and one in November.
They are part of a chain of Senior communities in nine states in the west and south. Hopefully we'll be getting additional bookings at their Rohnert Park location, which will make Ricki happy, since she lives just around the corner! Judy was a big hit at a private party where she had been invited to sing two of her Spanish numbers as part of the program introducing a culinary tour of Spain being co-ordinated by a well known Napa restauranteur.
