We'll also be debuting our close harmony version of Sway, and a new solo tune for each f us. Gotta' keep changing it up, since we are getting so many repeat bookings ("by popular demand") !
We're gearing up for TWO back-to-back shows on July 4th. Since it's a national holiday we are adding a patriotic medley of tunes to open our show, and closing with America the Beautiful. We'll be inviting the audience to sing along with us on the second chorus of those tunes.

We were pleased to volunteer for Bread & Roses and entertain the Vets at their monthly birthday party at the VA Medical Center in SF. We had a large appreciative audience. The show was kicked up a notch with the addition of our wonderful accompanist Si Perkoff who volunteers regularly for B&R. In fact, Si has done so many shows for them that he was just interviewed about his experience on the front page of the organization's newsletter ! We entertained an appreciative audience as part of a Mother/Daughter Tea party at Sonoma Hills today. The residents and their guests were invited to wear festive hats for the occasion, so we joined them and wore our new fascinators with the big red rose and a black veil.
Our regular accompanist Si Perkoff was unavailable due to his steady gig at Savoy in SF on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, so in his place we hired Judy Hall, who did a fine job for us. She generously offered to rehearse with us for a couple of hours without charge the previous weekend, in order to get a handle on our arrangements. After the show we celebrated with a glass of sparkling wine on the terrace at Domaine Carneros! We wore our new costumes for the first time on Friday. We wanted a look that would be appropriate for our scheduled 4th of July and Veteran's Day shows, as well as for the upcoming Bread & Roses shows we're doing at several VA hospitals.
We're gearing up for 3 shows in the next 5 days!
We've been working hard on expending our repertoire now that we are getting so many repeat bookings, so tomorrow we will debut two new numbers in addition to varying the two solos we each do. The new trio number is a complex arrangement of "In The Mood". It's been a challenge, but we think it will be a crowd pleaser. Ricki and Judy will now have a duet of their own on Johnny Mercer's "Dream" We're also excited about wearing our new costumes for the first time tomorrow - 40's dresses, sailor hats, and shiny red shoes...fun! We were back by popular demand to do our hour show for the Shabbat Lunch program today. This time our friend, Jim Whiteside, who heads the trio we sing with at The Mayflower Inn Jazz Vocalist Open Mic twice 2 month was our accompanist.
He generously offered to spend a couple of hours rehearsing with us at his home yesterday because our material is pretty tightly arranged, rather than simply improvised on the spot, and he wanted to do his best for us. Thanks, Jim! Lovin' Harmony had fun sitting in tonight at Judy Hall's Jazz Jam at the Sleeping Lady in Fairfax. We sang 4 of our trio tunes with the backing of an 8 piece band! It was a challenge singing three parts on just two microphones, but we managed.
Judy and Mardi also took the opportunity to sing a couple of solos each. We got called to fill in at the last minute for another performer who couldn't make their gig at Merrill Gardens/Vallejo. Chris subbed for Ricki and did a fine job. We have a regularly scheduled gig there in just a month, but we're working hard on some new material to keep our show fresh.
